Code block#26

D

The libraries concept is something I thought I grasped when I opened AB, but when Erko demoed I noticed that I hadn’t. It clusters specific functions for a domain (Jira Cloud, Slack, etc.) but it also imports important code completion visible in the editor. That is not obvious and Erko got caught by this during the demo too.

Moreover, the draggable “Code block” is listed in the “Basics”, but initially, when I connected my Jira instance, I only looked at the Jira Cloud library in which there is no “Code block” - this is a bit confusing as I didn’t know that libraries are interusable, nor it was obvious.

Yes, this can really be confusing for people who don’t see the difference right away (missing or incorrect IntelliSense), we have talked about inspecting the code and detecting if any connection is used that is not added as library and then adding it automatically, I guess we shoud move it up in our list. It indeed caught me by surprise too, even though I realized right away that something was wrong (by noticing incorrect IntelliSense), but it took me a while to figure out what needed to be done.

This problem has been addressed in the most recent release. We now automatically load libraries when a connection is selected. Details in the docs here: https://docs.adaptavist.com/ab/latest/release-notes#id-.ReleaseNotesvCurrent-20April2021
